Jo Crotty
Founder/Training Manager, Danger Sun Overhead

Danger Sun Overhead was founded by Jo Crotty after losing her husband Rohan Crotty to melanoma in 2009. Rohan, a carpenter/plasterer by trade and CFMEU organiser at the time of his death, became affiliated with the University Queensland after his first diagnosis in 2006 where he supported UQ to access several construction sites, to research skin cancer in the construction industry.

Jo has developed a program designed to raise awareness for employees engaged in outdoor industries focussed on the harms of Ultraviolet exposure, practicable prevented measures to reduce exposure, importance of early detection of skin cancer and behaviour change towards workers commitment to reduce their own exposure.

Jo manages a growing training unit who have delivered the DSO program to 80,000 workers predominantly in high-risk trades including the building and Construction Industry, Local government, various QLD agencies and numerous Trade schools including TAFE QLD.
