This pre-conference workshop will focus on the significant role of shade in reducing skin cancer risk and how to deliver and sustain quality shade in the built environment. We will address the key challenge of getting shade for UV protection on the healthy built environment policy agenda through cross sector engagement. The complex context of delivering shade effectively in the built environment will be explored through presentations, panel discussions, case studies and a site visit. A key outcome of the day is to share strategies and tactics to deliver long term sustainable quality shade outcomes.

This pre-conference workshop is open to conference participants as well as professionals working in healthy built environment policy, design, planning and execution across related disciplines of landscape architecture, urban planning, architecture and horticulture within government, corporate and NGO sectors.
