Sunscreens: formulations, regulations and behaviours

This pre-conference workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to hear from world leaders on all aspects of sunscreen – from formulation and testing to behavioural sunscreen research, education, and communication of sunscreen use. It aims to bring together key stakeholders from academia, industry, and national and international health protection agencies to address the current state of knowledge and challenges in the sunscreen space. During this workshop there will be opportunities for open discussions and networking, with a view to develop a vision statement that provides direction for future work and development in the sunscreen space.

QIMR Berghofer is located in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital precinct at Herston, four kilometres north of Brisbane's central business district and is accessible by bus, train, taxi and private transport.

• The closest parking to QIMR Berghofer is a multi-storey Cornerstone carpark located directly opposite the Institute at 325 Herston Road, Herston. The cost of two hours parking is $22.
• There is also a multi-storey Metro carpark on Bramston Terrace (the former Royal Children’s Hospital carpark). The cost of two or more hours parking is $27.
• Some metered parking can be found in surrounding streets, particularly Gilchrist Avenue and Herston Road. These parking spaces are only metered until 7pm.
• The Brisbane Showgrounds’ Pavilion carpark can be accessed via Gate 5 off O’Connell Terrace. The cost of two to three hours parking is $20. Please note that this carpark is a 10 – 15 minute walk from QIMR Berghofer.

• Bus: There are two bus interchanges located approximately five minutes walk from QIMR Berghofer: o The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital: The easiest way to access the Institute from this bus stop is by taking the lift to the ground floor, walking down Bowen Bridge Road and turning right onto Herston Road. o Herston: Take the lift or stairs from the bus stop to street level. Upon exiting the bus interchange, turn right on Herston Road and QIMR Berghofer is located approximately 200 metres away on the opposite side of the road.
• Train: The Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills train stations are both approximately 20 minutes walk from QIMR Berghofer.
